ABSTRACT

One extremely powerful way to escape the trap is to use a simple but efficient breathing technique called 4, 7, 8 breathing. In this chapter, the author aims to flip on his creative switch by using several cycles of the 4, 7, 8 breathing technique. He also aims to empty the mind of all tension and extraneous thoughts and release any feelings of exhaustion and fatigue from their body, so coaches can fully use their imagination to actively create. The breathing technique relaxes and revitalizes coaches by sending oxygen to all of the cells of their body. It clears their mind and energizes their body. It takes them out of their linear/left-brain mode of thinking and allows them and their awareness to enter into their non-linear/right-brain mode. The exercise can be used in a session to help clients release any feelings of fatigue, exhaustion, uneasiness, discomfort, or frustration that may be blocking some aspect of their creating process.
