ABSTRACT

When feeling resistance to working on their project or anxiety around their project, coaches are asked to enter the feeling instead of running away from the feeling and avoiding the work. In working with a client, coaches might have a conversation with her about the resistance and ask her to sit quietly breathing, noticing where the emotion is located in her body. Coaches can ask her to breathe into that specific place in the body and ask her if the feeling has a physical expression and, if so, what it would look like. The more coaches engage with the exercise and move, the more they will be able to feel when the energy has been released and they can return to their creative work in a new state of mind. Coaches can prepare for the exercise by writing about their thoughts, concerns, and feelings so that they already have a connection to them before they bring in the body.
