ABSTRACT
This chapter is a set of vignettes and illustrations from my field experiences during a Fulbright Global award year I spent in the Balkans and South Asia.1 I reflect on family identity and state-citizen relational process in post-war Kosovo, and relational ways to consider the state-citizen relational bargain that happens between a people and their government (Tilly, 2002).
