ABSTRACT
This introductory chapter outlines the intention of the book, to prepare family therapists to work confidently outside their home country and within the international system. It describes the logic of taking a multilateral view of family therapy when performed internationally, and how systemic family therapy and theory can be and is applied across states in global mental health and psychosocial support efforts.
