ABSTRACT
The nations’ first state aid for college and university libraries contributing to resource sharing has been the stimulus for coordinated collection development planning in New York State. The planning effort is carried out within each of the nine regions of the state by regional committees involving 177 academic libraries. The program fits within a framework of other state-supported library programs and, as a result, builds on well-established regional multi-type library resource sharing systems which provide coordination, bibliographic access, and delivery. Both existing systems and the collection development effort have been strengthened by the other.
