ABSTRACT

The Pacific Northwest Conspectus will be the outcome of a unique approach to information resource assessment initiated by a private foundation. The Fred Meyer Charitable Trust’s Library and Information Resources for the Northwest Project is spearheading the design of a resource assessment process, training of library assessors, development of the database, production of a specialized collections survey, and encouragement of cooperative acquisition plans. The challenge to libraries in the Pacific Northwest will be continuing the resource assessment process beyond the Trust’s initial commitment.
