The North American Collections Inventory Project (NCIP): 1984 Phase II Results in Indiana

ARL’s Office of Management Studies brought the North American Collections Inventory Project (NCIP) to Indiana in 1984 as a pilot project funded by the Council on Library Resources and the Lilly Endowment and organized with the cooperation of the Research Libraries Group (RLG). The purpose of the project was to test and to develop a training program and a methodology, using the RLG Conspectus as a structure, for coordinating collection management among ARL institutions. It was the first major test of the RLG Conspectus in an environment where the corporate incentives of RLG do not operate. ¹
