ABSTRACT

This chapter explores implementation processes and core features of effective Tier 1 programming, including Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Social Emotional Learning (SEL), will be identified. The proliferation and adoption of preventative frameworks in schools have brought forth a new challenge of integrating multiple and competing initiatives. Multiple conceptual frameworks for universal social-emotional learning have been proposed. The SEB consultant engaged with Mayflower Middle School in weekly consultation as part of a partnership between a local university and the school district. The consultation process described above was developed by the researchers from the local university and was continuously modified based upon stakeholder input. The school had a well-defined PBIS system that required some modification rather than retraining their entire staff. The screening report highlights many potential avenues for facilitating services for students.
