ABSTRACT

Conflict, competition, harmony and spirit are key ideas addressed in this chapter. Opening with the inspiration of the Olympics Games, the foundations of coaching and consulting are traced through sports psychology to modern corporate analytical psychology; Jung’s work applied to individuations and organizations. Similarly, an outline of the development of management consulting from its roots in the late 19th century to the modern day is given. Emphasis is placed on Peter Senge’s late 20th-century work which resonates strongly with Jung’s analytical psychology although explicit connection was rarely made. Jung’s work found popular application in Myers-Briggs Type Psychology for which a commentary and critique is provided. The chapter culminates in a description of recent and contemporary Jungian corporate analytical work.
