ABSTRACT

‘Jung in jail’describes the application of a Jungian dream group model (Castleman 2009) to women incarcerated in Dallas, Texas. During that process, which was stonewalled by staff, women were able to share dreams in a group setting. As is the case with other populations, the women were moved and changed by their own dreams as well as hearing those of others. In a safe, trusting yet desperate situation, the women supported one another in decoding dreams and making changes in response to the confrontational nature of their dream material. Additionally, one of the dreams cited had a spiritual component that deeply touched the members of the jail dream group with transformational outcomes.
