ABSTRACT

Indo-Bangladesh enclaves were one of the most controversial issues in post-independent India. The enclave dwellers were denied any valid identity by the state, thus, any civil right to live. Yet they lived. While living a life full of threats, they inscribed their memories in their culture. This chapter represents some of those cultural and literary practices which have been collected through fieldwork as there was no pre-existing archive or database of those practices. Besides, this chapter talks about how the cultural practices work to shape resistance and how this resistance contributes to the formation of certain kinds of identities for the Indo-Bangladesh enclave dwellers.
