ABSTRACT

In this chapter, I discuss the Teatro Travieso/Troublemaker Theatre production of Women of Ciudad Juárez (by Cristina Michaus), which I translated and directed. The chapter discusses the methods employed during the rehearsal process and the subsequent tour, which began in 2014. The play uses the theatre as a space to examine, reflect on, and call attention to the feminicides taking place alongside the U.S.–Mexico border. To date, the production has been performed 44 times in over 20 locations in seven countries (and watched by over 25,000).
