ABSTRACT

The future of virtual group coaching hinges on the future of telework. The virtual group coach in the future will adapt to working with groups in the virtual and work settings and with the technology reinventing the notion of sociotechnical systems. It is an issue to be monitored and addressed in work group meetings, by future virtual group coaches. Such technology may become common in the future, and it may add dimensions to virtual group coaching. Employers should encourage that and even offer advice on how to do it since work-from-home layouts do affect worker productivity. Seamless technology means that the goal will be to focus on the interpersonal relationships fostered by technology rather than devote time and attention to "black box" issues of devices, software, and connectivity issues. But as virtual work grows more common and the technology improves, more attention will center on the people in a plethora of communication channels.
