ABSTRACT

Action Research (AR) is a useful method for facilitating organizational change and serves as a model for many Organization Development (OD) interventions. Group dynamics refer to “the influential interpersonal processes that occur in and between groups over time”. These processes determine how the group members relate to one another, how they engage with each other, the nature of the group, the actions taken, how the group responds to environments, and what the group achieves. According to Parker, groups in different stages of development may need to focus on different critical areas to be successful, effective, and well functioning. AR provides a systematic approach that promotes organizational change by involving and collaborating with the group to identify the problem, gather data, conduct diagnosis and assessment, plan action items, execute appropriate interventions, and evaluate outcomes. Face-to-face, video conferencing, telephone or teleconferencing, and chat room are synchronous communication medium. Examples of asynchronous communication medium are email, voicemail, texting, blog, wiki, and discussion board.
