ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the everyday organizational practices of grassroots organizations working for Palestinian and Israeli peace. It provides an example of the importance of in-depth qualitative studies and longstanding commitment to reveal how intersections of power affect everyday experiences as well as politics. Grassroots peace organizations seek to equip and empower women to take leadership roles and be more active in civil society, and studies exploring gender mainstreaming and women in peace and conflict often do so from a gender angle. However, the chapter reflects on how processes of peripheralization in an organizational, political, and geographical sense makes for unequal conditions of participating in peace work.
