ABSTRACT

As applied artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) provide the promise, and more recently, the reality of revolutionizing the way healthcare data is analyzed and delivered, health informatics professionals must develop and maintain a competency for leveraging the power of reasoning, knowledge representation, planning, learning, natural language process, and other methods. By doing so, AI and ML can positively affect the health informatics workforce by enhancing efficiencies, reducing risk, increasing value, improving outcomes, and reducing clinical variation.
