ABSTRACT

Because healthcare organizations must diligently protect the privacy and security of information, health informatics professionals have a shared responsibility to be aware of the challenges and opportunities of doing so. While protected health information may exist in many places, such as in the cloud, on a device, within an application, on stored media, or within a database, we must all do our best to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of this information for the safe and efficient operation of a healthcare organization and assets and devices within.
