ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the importance of using globally applicable standards to advance transformative digital health transformation change across the healthcare ecosystem. It examines the details of each of seven maturity model available to global healthcare entities today. The chapter compares and contrasts the four attributes of each maturity model while recognizing the differences among each. In this time of rapid change, hospitals, health systems and other healthcare provider organizations globally are building strategies to improve capacity. As demonstrated with COVID-19, there is a clear need to manage surges in demand for care, supply chain and logistics effectiveness, and building of new virtual care delivery models that ensure meaningful connectivity with patients when care is needed most. To meet these demands, Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society has created globally applicable frameworks, models and tools to build, measure and advance health system transformation.
