ABSTRACT

This chapter shows that how the Define Measure Analyse Improve Control model, which is at the heart of the Six Sigma method, can be used to improve the process of lecturer assessment. Six Sigma originates from the manufacturing sector and Statistical Process Control. The chapter focuses on methodological aspects, at the expense of deliberately omitted implementation issues. Various researches indicate that the efficient application of Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma requires profound changes in a university’s organizational, technical and social systems, which may constitute a considerable challenge. The objective of the process of the assessment of lecturers by students is to provide credible and reliable information on the quality of didactic courses and students’ satisfaction. The individual value plot graph shows that questionnaires are filled in the most often by up to ten people, irrespective of the size of a group or the type of course.
