ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a framework for lean initiatives that will build on the Gestalt cycle of experience that is used in coaching to get to the bottom of fundamental life issues faced by an individual. Lean is about creating value for the end-user as well as being about respect for people. Understanding of our own organisational culture and its impact on improvement initiatives that result in change, cultural and organisational, goes hand in hand with any lean initiative. The away day gave the team some space to think about who they are, what they want their day-to-day work to be and feel like, what they are worried about and what they love about their jobs. It gave them the time to think about what if the future could be different. The organisation culture assessment and the readiness for change is a useful initial indicator of how the people will react and embrace the change.
