ABSTRACT
This short introductory piece provides an overview of the rationale behind the AfCFTA, an update of how the negotiations developed, where the agreement now stands, and an explanation of how the ensuing chapters contribute to the core question of the book, ‘how can it be ensured that the AfCFTA is effectively implemented to deliver inclusive trade in Africa’. It also gives a brief overview of the key findings from each of the background chapters in this edited collection, showing how they relate to the core question.
