ABSTRACT
This short fiction story is a tale of two young women who are exploring their power as young women as if they were testing the pain levels of boiling water. I try to demonstrate how sexuality, gender identification, and power are often discovered in uncomfortable, yet thrilling, ways for young women. There is tension, excitement, and repulsion, all at once, yet underneath these emotions, there is the true desire simply to figure out what one is capable of and who one feels connected to.
