ABSTRACT

“Parts of an Autobiography” is an autobiography, yes, but it is also a manifesto. This poem is declarative and questioning simultaneously, making stands as it feels its way through this world. Influenced by radical autobiographical artists like Ana Mendieta, this poem is an exercise to push into what felt confessional and shameful about my Latina identity. “Parts of an Autobiography” is an homage to the aesthetic experience of second-wave feminism, especially when it came to writers of color.
