ABSTRACT
This short essay relays what it was like for Dr. Nova Gutierrez to go from being a globe-trotting, awarded student, educator, and activist, to someone confined to a wheelchair and largely dependent on the help of others. Not only is the essay extremely positive, but it demonstrates that activism can take many forms.
