ABSTRACT
This chapter offers a brief introduction to part IV of the Routledge Handbook of Energy Democracy. This part of the handbook focuses on the importance of democratic and participatory principles in energy democracy research and practice. This introduction reviews possible modes of participation in energy democracy, highlights principles that cut across diverse cases, and previews the chapters that appear in this part of the handbook.
