ABSTRACT

The chapter seeks to connect and discuss the core findings of the book’s contributions along the lines of three paramount research puzzles: (1) Chinas national images and (re-)definitions of its Africa strategy in the shadow of shifting global power constellations; (2) China’s perception(s) of and contribution to political stability in Africa; (3) African agency in the quest for stable political settlements within Africa–China relationships. The chapter also addresses the implications of these findings for future research on African peace and security in connection with China’s global ambitions, and for finetuning and updating our existing theoretical frameworks of analysis, in order to better assess the complexity of these multidimensional dynamics.
