This chapter describes the way Latinos talk to their children about identity and race. She argues that the narratives are influenced by her concept of “racial ideology continuum.” The racial ideology continuum is a spectrum of color-blind ideology on one hand and anti-racism ideology on the other. The respondents’ position on the racial ideological continuum determined what they wanted to pass on to the next generation about their racial and ethnic background.
