ABSTRACT

Marié Abe’s chapter offers an introduction to Music and Space, giving us a glimpse into the multifarious ways that space can be thought and made meaningful through musical performance. This chapter helps us think about how music has been used to reinforce and challenge absolute space, about how music and space has been theorized within phenomenology, and about what happens when we think of music and space as relational, emergent, and connected to the more-than-human.
