ABSTRACT
After each school shooting we hear about in the news, we may think “How did this happen and why?” The media grapples to figure out a motive. Various news sources speculate, evidence surfaces, and people voice their opinions. However, there is one opinion the media usually does not hear: the perpetrator’s. The media focuses attention on naming the perpetrator and speculating their motives. However, what drives a person to commit such violence may never be known.
