ABSTRACT

This chapter draws upon interviews with members of various abolitionist media collectives throughout North America about their respective groups’ formation process and their particular organizing needs. The chapter considers the respective abolitionist tactics deployed by these collectives as well as the various ethical and aesthetic questions they constantly face. Part of the goal of this chapter is also to introduce the reader to abolitionist radio production: not simply as an organizing tool but as a key practice of opening radical new possibilities for social relations, thought, and meaning. The chapter closes with some general reflections and recommendations about abolitionist media making.
