ABSTRACT

Various factors and a multitude of circumstances are responsible for Pakistan’s military having remained a critical element throughout its 70-year history. The fluid political situation led to the Commander-in-Chief being asked to step in as the Minister of Defence in the government of Pakistan. The consensus is that there are prospects for a stable civil-military relationship in the future especially if there is politically stability and the government feels secure. In response to the demands of a complex environment the military has created a training and education system that incorporates the latest technology and the most modern concepts of leadership and professional skills. As the demand for resources increased amid growing criticism of the inordinate share of national funds going to the military there was a need for the military to develop a corporate structure and interests in order to supplement its budget.
