ABSTRACT

The Rastafari movement has become a racially diverse movement with a global range, especially since the Jamaican independence from Britain in 1962. Using the ideology of two of the founders, Leonard P. Howell and Henry A. Dunkley, this chapter examines how the Rastafari movement has managed to become racially diverse and has transcended its Jamaican shores while championing Black resistance and liberty, maintaining its African identity.
