ABSTRACT

It is such a great privilege to write this tribute to Professor Ma. Lourdes Bautista, whom we all affectionately refer to as ‘Tish’. Fittingly, this tribute to Tish and her influence on scholarship on Philippine English (PhE) is part of this volume titled Philippine English: Development, Structure and Sociology of English in the Philippines, edited by Ariane Borlongan and published by Routledge in their series on world Englishes. It is a second festschrift for Tish, the first one being published more than a decade ago, to which I will refer again later.
