ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces medico-legal report writing. The risks of a professional providing medico-legal work will be outlined and a suggested format for the construction of a medico-legal report detailed. The process of appearing in Court as an Expert Witness will be discussed. The provision of expert witness training has become a growth area for many legal and professional bodies. As a result of the UK Supreme Court decision to remove expert witness immunity, experts are now in a theoretically more vulnerable legal position. It is essential that a provider of medico-legal services undertakes appropriate training and is fully cognisant of the legal framework they are operating within.
