ABSTRACT

The introduction lays out the framework of Herman and Chomsky’s propaganda model, the impact that it has had on the public, how the world of academia and media have steadfastly ignored Manufacturing Consent, the most accurate critique of their profession, the changes that have occurred in the media since the 1980s (Internet, social media, the fall of print, etc.). It briefly provides an overview of the critiques and improvements suggested to Herman and Chomsky’s propaganda model and introduces the following chapters.
