ABSTRACT
The word suggests that a new situation has arisen on account of the settling down in guest-countries of immigrant population minorities having cultural traditions which more or less differ from the local ones, and that it is advisable to acknowledge and to accept the cultures of these newcomers as well. People often say that this diversity contains wealth and holds promises, and that everybody has the right to maintain and to develop his own culture. The unilateral imposition of the local indigenous language upon children of foreign origin inevitably raises communication problems and the discrimination of children from among immigrant groups. In North-Western Europe, as in many other places all over the world, phenotype, socio-economic position and life-style or culture start to refer to each other or start to symbolize one another on the common hierarchical scale of values.
