ABSTRACT

This chapter presents the findings of the qualitative interviews conducted with the foremen. The post-conflict phase in Syria may be promising for the Lebanese construction industry as it could become one of the most important gateways for reconstruction efforts. The chapter also presents the findings of health and safety management along with the employee findings to provide a more comprehensive view of safety management perceptions by both management and employees, as this point generated most controversy and dissonance between management and employees. The post-conflict phase in Syria may be promising for the Lebanese construction industry as it could become one of the most important gateways for reconstruction efforts. The construction industry is commonly divided into three major segments – building, heavy/civil engineering and industrial construction. The chapter highlights the inadequate nature of management practices in the construction industry, with key concerns pertaining to recruitment, safety and training.
