ABSTRACT

Intergenerational projects are part of the curriculum of the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and Care (BECEC) offered by the Erasmus University College Brussels. The students, future pedagogical coaches, meet older adults to share experiences and narratives with them and then facilitate intergenerational activities with young children. In this chapter, the author describes these intergenerational activities between students and older adults and between older adults and children with the facilitation of the students. Art and culture are used to trigger stories and connections, empathy and understanding and have a positive impact on the mental, physical and social well-being of both old and young people.
