ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we discuss the use of mixed methods and integration in early childhood intervention research. First, an introduction to early childhood intervention research is provided. Next, we provide a framework for addressing early childhood intervention research issues using mixed methods with an emphasis on integrating findings from both methodological approaches. This is followed by a brief review of the methods employed in early intervention research funded by the Institute of Education Sciences at the United States Department of Education. Finally, a discussion regarding the using of mixed methods within an implementation science framework is provided.
