ABSTRACT

Lesley Caldwell (who herself published a book dedicated to Milner in 2000) considers Marion’s contribution to ideas of creativity, symbols and illusion. Caldwell gives the history of Milner’s paper ‘The Role of Illusion in Symbol Formation’ (1952). She makes connections between Milner’s thinking and that of others, including Winnicott, while showing Milner’s distinctive contribution to art, creativity and psychoanalytic technique.
