Margaret Boyle Spelman gives a detailed description of The Human Problem in Schools (1937), a pioneering exploration of what is needed of a psychologist in girls’ secondary schools. She considers Milner’s account of this research project, as the prescription for a discipline which did not then exist: applied educational psychology.
