ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the perception and representation of the legendary Assyrian queen Semiramis as a female authority figure in the classical sources. The focus is on the methods of constructing female power, its evaluation, and its connection to stereotypes of the “Orient” in Greek and Latin writings. The varied portrayals of this extraordinary woman provide clear insights into these themes.
