ABSTRACT

The Government of the Philippines supports and advocates for the effective use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in classroom instruction through policy and programs such as the adopt-a-school program that help to provide facilities needed for ICT integration in classroom instruction. Through interviews with six Filipino teachers, emerging themes include the value of technology in classroom instruction, in spite of facing challenges of resource limitations. Lack of facilities does not always deter ICT integration. Some teachers in this study report purchasing and using their own technology as part of their overall instructional strategy to reach diverse learners. Further, inclusive instruction is growing in the Philippines using teacher-developed and other strategies, often without significant costs for technology resources.
