ABSTRACT

Applying the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework is an efficient way to provide equal access to knowledge for all learners. It would be beneficial to know what is happening in different countries in terms of UDL. As such, this chapter explores the current developments in educational policy in China for students with special needs. Additionally, the status of UDL and inclusive learning is presented and compared. Lastly, this chapter explores the many challenges that implementing the UDL framework in China would encounter. Chinese tools, policy, and culture about UDL are discussed so that educators and researchers can be aware when designing a UDL course or research study for Chinese students.
