ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a review of good practice in kindergarten education in Poland, specifically relating to teachers’ professional behaviour in terms of cooperation with the family. Experience of parents and preschool teachers in the learning process and mutual relations concerns many fields, such as getting to know each other and understanding the learning environment, children’s functioning in preschool and family, modernisation of actions and common reflection and participation in educational activities. Recognition of the specifics of the cultural and economic aspect of the household environment influences the process of individualisation of the child’s kindergarten education. The diagnosis of upbringing styles, functioning of the child in the specific environment, culture and rituals existing in the community is carried out by teachers during their conversations with parents. The participation of parents in the life of kindergarten depends on the space teachers and parents create in the institution and on the space for partnership determined by local governments.
