ABSTRACT

This report is based on studies that produced demand forecasts for German firms of vari-ous sizes, regional orientation and product ranges. The case studies that will be presented in the empirical chapter have two points in common. The time series requested by the commissioners of the studies first require a particular methodological strategy because of their uneven, almost erratic nature. On the request of the firms, the explanatory variables should further include not only time series from the official statistics but also the indicator variables from surveys of the Ifo Institute.
