A Note on the Texts and on Recent Studies on Chen Duxiu

In the summer of 1946, He Zhiyu took Chen Duxiu’s last articles and letters from Sichuan to Shanghai. As executor of Chen’s will, he edited into a pamphlet the manuscripts of a number of what he considered to be the more important letters, together with four of the articles. None of these letters, and none save the first part of one of the articles, had previously been published.
