ABSTRACT
Aloha ʻĀina (love of the land) has been the philosophy that has guided the Hawaiian sovereignty from our earliest origins. While many of the debates of the last 30 years in the Hawaiian sovereignty movement have been placed into apposing political camps of federal recognition vs independence, this article explores additional ways Aloha ʻĀina can and has informed struggles for Ea (breath, life, sovereignty).
