ABSTRACT
With his first non-student film, From Cherry English, Jeff Barnaby directly addressed the pain of Native language loss and acquisition in ways that quickly established his voice and style in the cinematic landscape. This chapter will focus on the presence and portrayal of language in Barnaby’s works, particularly in The Colony (2007), From Cherry English (2005), and File Under Miscellaneous (2010).
