ABSTRACT

The Nancy-Grenoble comparison illustrates the proliferation of the organisational mode moving from the specialised pole to the technopolis. The acute work crisis has been caused by the effects of new technologies and by a larger integration of everyone’s competencies: autonomy, maturity, self-confidence, investment in work, anticipation, communicability, trans-disciplinarity, synthetic vision. This chapter explores the ZIRST at Grenoble and at Nancy-Brabois because these two cities opted for this type of development at a time when the technopolitan effect had not yet attained its greatest importance. ZIRST and Nancy-Brabois initiatives have been taken in order to develop and enhance the value of research capacities in their productive fallout. The certification of technopolitan functioning at Grenoble and its convincing extension at Nancy are the works of new elements that have found a way to win the confidence of other institutions. These players are involved in different social fields and play the role of inter-cultural vectors.
